Because direct solar installation is not feasible, solar inverter do not send power directly to the solar panel in a solar system. Solar inverter are responsible for that. Solar inverter typically use variable frequency drives to convert DC power into AC power.

The system maker rates solar panels based on how much power they can produce.

This ranking is based on how well AC solar panels outperform AC solar panels in addition to how well DC solar panels are inverted to allow DC power to get through to the inverters.

These AC panels can only do this with about 50% of the power they produce, but this is okay as it still makes a decent amount of power for the solar system.

Benifits:

While solar inverters produce more energy than solar panels themselves, solar panels themselves do not produce more energy as a result of them.

Solar inverters decrease the amount of power that solar panels can produce. Many solar inverters have a power rating of about 15 or 20 kW.
